TILL Photonics and Evotec Technologies announce Collaboration Released at the "LASER 2003. World of Photonics" International Trade Fair in Munich: TILL Photonics and Evotec Technologies enter into Cooperation TILL Photonics Technology Award to Dr. Sachse at the Göttingen Neurobiology Conference
TILL Photonics GmbH, developer, manufacturer and supplier of innovative components and turn-key solutions for fluorescence microscopy, and Evotec Technologies GmbH, a daughter company of Evotec OAI AG (German Stock Exchange: EVT, Prime Standard), supplier of innovative technologies for the life sciences, announced a development and supply partnership.
The essence of the cooperation is that TILL Photonics will provide a microscopy platform based on their iMIC ™ to Evotec Technologies for their instrumentation. The first iMIC prototype, a joint development between TILL Photonics and its academic partner, the BioImaging Center of the LMU (Munich), was first demonstrated last autumn; the iMIC is now in its second stage of evolution. It is distinguished by great modularity and can be adapted to a very wide range of applications in automated microscopy. Furthermore, it is scalable and can be configured into systems ranging from simple ones with light source and CCD camera, up to highly complex wide-field/laser-scanning hybrids that can switch between multiple incoherent and coherent light sources. Further key features include polychromatic excitation and emission, and real-time imaging with the highest spatial and temporal resolution.
Instruments from Evotec Technologies are most prominently deployed in pharmaceutical drug discovery and life science industries. The special strengths of ET are in automated detection and analysis at the molecular and cellular levels, management of the most minute volumes of liquids, and methods and software for extremely fast, automated data analysis.
"Our close collaboration with basic research partners for research-driven competence is a good basis for the step that TILL Photonics must take in the future, seeking access to industrial markets. It therefore makes sense to seek synergies and to combine our strengths with those of complementary and strategic partners that already have presence in these markets. It gives us great pleasure to have found such a partner in Evotec Technologies, and we are confident we can fulfill Evotec's requirements," said Prof. Dr. Rainer Uhl, CEO of TILL Photonics.
"The cooperation with TILL Photonics is a further important step towards developing and manufacturing our products with competent strategic partners. We now require long-term, reliable system partners for the instrumentation for cell biology that we have introduced over the last 12 months. The proposed solution from TILL is distinguished by a high level of modularity, so that the requirements arising from the market since our product introduction can be met with flexibility. Their close proximity to the University of Munich where they have collaborations on applications is a further plus of this cooperation ." said Prof. Dr. Carsten Claussen, CEO of Evotec Technologies.
