TILL VoiceCoil z-Drive

TILL's new z-drive combines the range of a stepper motor driven coarse drive with the precision of a Piezo and an exceptional speed.
Its accuracy, which is available over the full range, enables 3D scans of unprecedented quality. Due to its fast settling full frame z-stacks are only limited by the speed of the camera and not by the z-drive.

A voice coil drive works similar to a dynamic loudspeaker where the coil is moving the membrane of the speaker. In TILL's VoiceCoil simplified the membrane is replaced by the microscope objective. However, here a very precise optical position measurement system with a closed loop feedback ensures nm precise position control of the objective. The VoiceCoil z-drive will be used in TILL's digital microscope iMIC.
