Troubleshooting in TILLvisION

Following upgrade to TILLvisION 4.0, image acquisition fails

Some frame grabbers refuse to work with the new camera driver provided with TILLvisION 4.0 (the system does not find the grabber and TILLvisION complains that it can not initialize the PCI device on startup). Check sen_drv.log created in the TILLvisION/Program folder during installation. In this case you have to change back to the former camera driver "Skeleton" after installation of TILLvisION 4.0.

There a two way to solve this: one for Windows 2000 and one for Windows NT 4.0

Windows 2000

How to use the skeleton driver instead of the one sent with TILLvisION 4

  1. go to TILLvisION directory: ...\program\
  2. rename imagohal.dll to _imagohal.dll
  3. open the Device Manager (Computer / Manage / Device Manager)
  4. under Sound, Video and Game Controllers: disable the device "PCO PCI Interface Board 520/525" by selecting Properties / Device Usage: Do not use this device (disable)
  5. reboot the PC
  6. open the device manager
  7. View / Show hidden devices
  8. Under Non-plug-and-play drivers select: Skeleton / Properties / Driver / Startup / Type: Automatic Skeleton / Properties / General / Device Usage: Use this device (enable) - (if the skeleton entry is missing: open regedit: go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Skeleton and set "Start" to "2")
  9. reboot the PC

Windows NT 4.0

  1. go to TILLvisION directory: ...\program\
  2. rename imagohal.dll to _imagohal.dll
  3. open Settings / Control Panel / Devices
  4. select "Imago PCI Interface Board 52x_xP"; stop the device and set startup to "disabled". Select "skeleton" and set startup to "automatic"
  5. reboot the PC

Note that the procedure of activating the skeleton driver has to be carried out after each installation of the TILLvisION software.
